DRONE ENTERPRISE (AV 104)

Volcano drone

Dr. Getter’s expertise, access to equipment, and FAA certification make him an enormous asset to groups such as mine, as our expertise is more on the science of magmatic systems than the significant technical challenges associated with collecting crucial data. I am excited for the potential of this collaboration to develop new techniques, and look forward to pushing the boundaries of science and technology in collaboration with Dr. Getter and the Coastal Drone Academy.

Students and instructors in this course pioneer new technologies and collaborators. We are currently building rotary and fixed-wing drones to take on greater and greater challenges including 1) collecting gas samples at active volcanoes, 2) mapping large areas the coast, and 3) deploying drones off ships at sea.

vuwI have recently learned of the expertise and capabilities that Dr. Getter and his students have at the Coastal Drone Academy, and look forward to working with them to explore and expand the use of drones on active volcanoes. I am excited for the potential of this collaboration to develop new techniques and look forward to pushing the boundaries of science and technology in collaboration with Dr. Getter and the Coastal Drone Academy.
